My Father's Current Parkinson's Condition
How he is doing now.

My father started a new Parkinson's medicine schedule on 20 October 2026. He seemed to move better at first. But he stayed awake for much of the first night, had a difficult morning and had speech changes we are discussing with his neurologist.

Last family-reported update: 21 October 2026

What we have noticed

Symptoms we've noticed.

These are things we have noticed as a family, not verified clinical findings. We do not know whether each symptom comes from Parkinson's, a medicine or something else.

Long-term challenges

  • His movement varies between ON and OFF periods. At times he is very stiff and cannot stand or walk without help.
  • He feels tightening or pulling in his back, arms and legs.
  • Numbness and tingling.
  • Frequent nighttime urination and constipation.
  • Blood pressure that fluctuates between low and high readings, with dizziness.

Latest observations · 20–21 October 2026

  • He stayed awake for a long time overnight after the 20 October medicine change.
  • On 21 October, we recall ON until about 2 AM, mixed ON and OFF from 2 to 4 AM, and OFF from 4 to 9 AM when he needed help. Later, he was ON from 9 to 11 AM, OFF until noon, then ON until 3 PM. After 3 PM is unknown. These are approximate family recollections, not continuous monitoring.
  • His speech was unclear at times and seemed worse during the night. We also noticed chewing-like mouth movements. The cause is unknown and needs clinical evaluation.

Urgent: New or worsening speech difficulty, facial drooping or sudden weakness can be a medical emergency — seek urgent medical help immediately.

External use only

Axe Brand Universal Oil

My father sometimes uses Axe Brand Universal Oil on his hands and legs when they feel numb or tingly. Some days he applies it three or four times, and other days he doesn't use it at all. He feels it helps him, although we don't know whether it changes the underlying problem.

This is a comfort product he rubs on his skin, not a Parkinson's medicine. It is not part of his prescription and we make no claims about any effect on the disease.

What we noticed after the change.

Madopar HBS 125 was replaced with Madopar Dispersible 125, one tablet five times daily (approximately every four hours), while Oridopa 25/100 continued at two tablets five times daily. A family-reported return visit to the neurologist who first saw my father in 2024.

We noticed some better movement early on. He also stayed awake for a long time, had a morning OFF period and had unclear speech at times. We do not know what caused these changes. We are discussing all of them with his doctor.
