About

Who writes this, and how

An adult child writing about a father's Parkinson's — carefully, anonymously, and without pretending to be a doctor.

Who I am

I'm my father's adult child and one of his caregivers. He has lived with Parkinson's for well over a decade — the first symptoms we remember date from around 2012, and he was diagnosed in Dhaka in 2015. I have been beside him through consultations in Bangladesh, India, Abu Dhabi and Bangkok, through changing medicine schedules, and through many difficult OFF periods and nights.

I am not a doctor, nurse, pharmacist or other health professional, and I have no medical credentials. I write as a family member.

Why this site exists

For years we pieced my father's care together from memory, old prescriptions and conversations in waiting rooms. I wanted one honest place that shows what one family's Parkinson's journey actually looked like — the dates we know, the gaps we don't, and the practical lessons of caregiving — so other families feel less alone.

Editorial policy

  • Lived experience is labelled. What we observed at home is described as family-reported. It is not a diagnosis and does not prove that any medicine caused any change.
  • Dates and uncertainty are preserved. Exact dates are used only when a document confirms them. Approximate periods say "around", and unknown schedules or intervals stay marked unknown — never filled in.
  • Prescriptions are not the same as dates taken. A prescription date records what was written that day, not when a medicine was actually started or stopped.
  • Only Parkinson's medicines are listed publicly. Medicines for other health problems are not named in the medicine directory.
  • No invented content. No fake quotes, testimonials, patient data, appointments or outcomes.

Fact-checking and sources

Medicine names and strengths are checked against the packaging and the prescriptions we hold. Doctor and hospital names are checked against the hospitals' own public pages. Educational guides cite organisations such as the Parkinson's Foundation, Parkinson's UK, Cleveland Clinic and NICE, and link to them so you can read the original.

This site has not been clinically reviewed. No doctor or medical reviewer has checked these pages. Please treat everything here as one family's perspective and discuss any decision with your own neurologist.

Corrections

When I learn that something is wrong — a brand, a strength, a date — I correct the page and keep the uncertainty visible rather than quietly guessing. Several pages have already been corrected as family records were re-checked. Messaging is not available yet, so I cannot currently receive correction requests through the site; see the contact page for the latest status.

Privacy

My father stays anonymous. No names, birthdays, photographs, addresses, visit IDs or prescription scans are published, and the motor diary shows only reviewed anonymous summaries. The site does not collect messages or email addresses. Read more in the privacy and medical disclaimer.

Personal experience, not medical advice. This is one family's account. Never start, stop or change any medicine without your doctor. New or worsening slurred speech, facial drooping or sudden weakness can be an emergency — seek urgent medical help immediately. Full disclaimer
